Vintage ashtray, La Tour D'Argent Restaurant, Paris. 1960's
La Tour D'Argent is one of Paris' oldest and best known restaurants. It's been operating since 1582, and among other things houses a 450,000 bottle wine cellar that is is guarded 24 hours a day. It's been an absolute landmark for visitors to the city forever. Located at 15 Quai de la Tournelle, it overlooks the Seine and Notre Dame.
The ashtray, we are quite certain, dates to the 1960's. Made in France by Luneville. It's in remarkable condition. The only slight sign of use is minor wear to the gold band on the top outer edge. It measures 4 1/4" by 2 3/4". Could be used for a variety of purposes, including holding trinkets or jewelry.
